Hello, I am Cleo Davis, a senior copywriter and creative strategist from London, based in Amsterdam.

Welcome to my world of words.

Here you’ll find a short, tea-break length peek into my 10-year career as a copywriter.

Starting with a few of my favourite projects such as Content Editor at Calvin Klein, from global campaigns (yes, Chef), social, e-commerce to script work in collaboration with SpotifyYouTube and Google. Ending on snippets from my five years at Burberry, where I was Christopher Bailey’s right-hand runway writer. Other brands I’ve typed for include John Lewis, Veuve Clicquot, Marfa Stance and Pringle of Scotland.

Prior to brand-voice zhooshing, I was a London-based journalist and editor for six years on fashion and lifestyle titles including Esquire, The Saturday Times and Recognise.

‘Calvins or nothing’

As senior copywriter, I worked on the messaging and copy, featuring for a multi-channel layout including E-comm, CRM, social, out -of-home billboards and in-store POS.

I concepted and wrote the following script for ShyGirl to perform, as well as directed the voice-over recording for Spotify.

“It’s… a state of mind. A party.

Weakness. Fun.

You. Us.

Me. Everyone.

Calvins or nothing.”

Outtakes from the mini-series CK Unfiltered for Calvin Klein, created for YouTube in collaboration with Google. Series one ‘bra talk’ was about finding your perfect bra, and series two ‘denim’ was how-to styling videos. For both, I wrote and directed the scripts on set.

Script writing is one of my favourite tasks. Maybe because I like talking, but probably because I love working with people and bringing out their beautiful personalities. Check out the unique personalities in these two short films.

I led the storytelling project for the relaunch of the Burberry website, featuring the tale of the trench coat. This involved a train trip to Castleford, Yorkshire, and lots of tea.

BURBERRY: RUNWAY PRODUCT NAMING

At Burberry my role involved naming key runway products. I called this rather roomy tote ‘The Giant’ because I was able to fit in it - seen here.
